2024 Nationals: Day 12 wrap
The awards have been handed out at the 2024 Australian Sides Championships with history being made once again at the biggest state versus state competition as Queensland and New South Wales claimed the highest honours at Club Tweed.
Alley Shield
With the overall result fait a complit on Saturday, New South Wales clinched the state’s 19th consecutive master board win to put a rubber stamp on yet another undefeated year.
Hoisting the state’s second successive Alley Shield for the first time since 2004-05, the Blues took down a valiant South Australia in the concluding round to finish off the competition.
Queensland finished second after defeating the ACT in the final round with Victoria in third ahead of Western Australia and South Australia with all on four victories and three losses.
Tasmania crossed the finish line in sixth with the ACT and Northern Territory completing the table.
Overall rink winner – Victoria’s Cameron Keenan, Brett Mahoney, Matt Flapper and Craig Mills took the honours after a stunning undefeated campaign.

Marj Morris Trophy
For the first time since 2017, the Marj Morris trophy will turn maroon as Queensland conquered the event after a gritty win against the ACT in round seven.
Only leading by two on the master board after the half way mark, the Queenslanders stormed home to claim the trophy in a famous day for the state.
New South Wales defeated South Australia to claim second spot with 2023 champions in Victoria behind them on rink points.
Western Australia capped off an impressive campaign to make it top four finishes in both competitions, with Tasmania narrowly behind their western counterparts in fifth.
South Australia finished sixth with the ACT and Northern Territory making up the ladder.
Overall rink winner – Queensland’s Amanda Haevecker, Emma Spicer, Wendy Wilson and Chloe Stewart made it a supremely good day for their state by clinching the overall rink honours at six wins and one loss.

Overall trophy
The supremely consistent display from New South Wales saw the state claim victory in the overall trophy.
Following in second was Queensland ahead of Victoria in third and Western Australia in fourth.
