The BPL21 All Star team and Most Valuable Player have been crowned with another new face stealing the show as the tournament’s best athlete after an exhilarating count.

In one of the closest races in history, the Geelong Jets’ Paul Foster MBE claimed top honours after polling 49 from a possible 66 votes across the 22 home and away rounds.

Foster edged out Jets teammate Aaron Wilson by three votes to take the award, with the latter joining the Scottish star in the BPL21 All Star team to notch up his third consecutive and fourth overall appearance in the team since its inception in BPL14.

After being part of that first ever All Star squad, the Gold Coast Hawks’ star Kelsey Cottrell makes her second appearance after one of the most consistent tournaments of her career.

The Hawks’ Mark Thatcher would be named as the coach of the team.

This team marks the second occasion that two players from the same franchise have featured after Cottrell and her former Hawks teammate Aron Sherriff were named in the team.

The history it does create is that Foster and Wilson are the first men from the same franchise to line up within the All Star squad.

Gold Coast’s Nick Brett was judged as the second ever Grand Final MVP after his stellar performance in the decider.
